Maxim Dobres ARPS FRAS
I lead the Astro Imaging group for Guildford Astronomical society. I give talks on Astrophotography to out-reach, groups, and camera clubs. I have been imaging the universe for over five years. I began using portable equipment and have progressed to building my roll-off shed observatory in my back garden. I achieved my “ARPS” by submitting the PhotoBook “Deep Sky Wonders – Images from Beyond the Solar System”. All the astronomy photographs on this website were taken by me from my back garden in Bookham Surrey. I am a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
This website also contains randomly useful stuff about Astrophotography gathered over the last few years. I had to put it somewhere so I put it here. If you find it useful that’s good.
My Telescopes and Equipment
I have a range of mounts, telescopes and equipment that I use for different targets depending on their size, composition and position in the sky. Below is a picture of a dual mount setup consisting of a RASA widefield Astrograph mounted on top of a William Optics FLT 132mm Refractor. Each scope has its own astro camera. The whole lot sits on a CEM120 equatorial mount which in turn is controlled by a small PC.
